Somali Defence Minister Abdihakim Hajji Mohamoud Fiqi Wednesday arrived in Baidoa on a mission that insiders say is to deliver the salaries of government soldiers in the city.
Accompanying the minister are a section of MPs, national army Chief Abdikadir Sheikh Ali Dini and other top government officials.
The minister and his delegation were warmly received by government and AMISOM officials in the city.
According to the media the minister and his delegation’s trip to the city is to pay soldiers stationed in entire Bay region.
The delegation will also assess security and humanitarian situation in the region as well as expanding government offensive against rebel positions in the twin regions of Bay and Bakol.
